We were driving one day by our house and this big boy was limping down the street. We stopped and tried to catch him but were unable to so we followed him to see where he lived. He kept limping, dragging his foot until he made it to a house then he collapsed out of exhaustion.

We started asking people who owned him and found out that BIG, BEAUTIFUL, GENTLE, LOVING George was living outside as the neighborhood dog after his family moved and left him behind. The neighbors fed him and loved on him but he had no home to call his own. The house he laid down in front of was his home years ago. We picked him up and carried him to the ER to have his leg xrayed. He tore his ACL and would require surgery. He is also heartworm positive as a result from not getting heartworm preventative. Both of his issues will be treated.

During his recovery from surgery and his treatment of heartworms George can go to his furever home. It will need to be a quiet home where he can be walked on a leash to potty and where he won't get jumped on by other pets during surgery recovery. He will need to stay here on the coast of MS until his treatment is over so he can make his scheduled doctor appointments.

George is an older boy about 12 and weighs about 80lbs. He was clearly well fed by the neighbors and will need to lose some weight especially to help him recover from knee surgery.

He is quiet, loving, sweet and gentle. If you are interested in fostering this boy or adopting him when treatment is over please fill out an application at www.tireddogrescue.com

George's fee will be 125.00

More about George

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids, Good with Adults

We at Tired Dog Rescue strive to find homes for dogs in need, build quality relationships with responsible owners, and preserve current dog-family homes by seeking solutions to financial, behavioral, and situational dog problems. We believe the lives of homeless, abandoned and abused dogs are just as precious as dogs that currently have a loving home. We believe that all dogs deserve a loving home despite their age, medical condition and/or disabilities. We provide whatever medical care is needed regardless of cost. All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm negative and current on vaccinations before being placed.
