SASSY LEIGH IS SASSY INDEED. This little love is a trusting, sweet, feisty dog who just wants to play fetch and be loved! Sassy Leigh is a 10-year-old Maltese/terrier mix. Don't let her age or cataracts fool you. She's an active girl who loves car rides, balls and tug-of-war. Completed heartworm treatment and will retest in Sept. Sassy Leigh came to TDR with many medical needs and she has had multiple surgeries, but she is doing extremely well. She will need to remain on a prescription diet for urinary health for the rest of her life. In general, Sassy gets along well with people and dogs;(no cats), but she is particular about a few things and her wishes should be respected. For example: she doesn't like other dogs in her face. She's crate trained, loves her kennel and defends it jealously. (don't mess with my stuff!) Sassy needs to be picked up a certain way ... our foster parent will instruct you ... or she will snap. Because of her quirks, we recommend she not be adopted by a family with young children. Also, even though Sassy is leash trained, she loves to slip out of a collar, so a harness is a must. With a little patience and consistency, Sassy Leigh will become a delightful and quirky member of the family.
