PRAYING FOR A HAPPY ENDING. Imagine getting dumped from a car along a lonely road. You're weak from hunger and illness. Now, imagine other animals biting and scratching you, but because you are blind, you can't defend yourself. All you can do is try to run and wait for the nightmare to end. Juno doesn't have to imagine it. He's lived it. This Boston Terrier was picked up by the good folks at the Hancock County Animal Shelter before coming to TDR. Estimating his age is tricky because of his current condition. Boston Terriers are prone to early-onset congenital cataracts, so his blindness isn't necessarily the result of old age. The vet says Juno has the teeth of a young adult, so the age listed here is a best guess. Juno hit the jackpot with his foster family. In one week of TLC, he gained four pounds just by eating regular meals. His wounds are being tended to and he's being treated for anemia due to intestinal parasites. Miraculously, he is negative for heartworms. He's scheduled to see a veterinary ophthalmologist soon. There's a possibility his blindness can be reversed, but anyone who applies to adopt Juno should assume they will be responsible for the lifetime care of a blind dog. He's doing very well learning the layout of his foster home, and with a reasonable transition, he can do the same in his forever home. Despite living rough, Juno seems to know that he's not supposed to do his bathroom business in the house. He's also tolerating the crate like a champ. This guy has every reason to be suspicious, or even aggressive, to humans but the truth is, he's just a cute cuddle bug looking for his next BFF. Fair warning: he is a bit of a bed hog. TDR has no information on how Juno feels about cats, but with common-sense supervision, he is getting along with his canine foster siblings. At this time, we do not know how he would respond to small children. Juno is now up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and is taking a heartworm preventative. He's also scheduled to be neutered. We at Tired Dog Rescue strive to find homes for dogs in need, build quality relationships with responsible owners, and preserve current dog-family homes by seeking solutions to financial, behavioral, and situational dog problems. We believe the lives of homeless, abandoned and abused dogs are just as precious as dogs that currently have a loving home. We believe that all dogs deserve a loving home despite their age, medical condition and/or disabilities. We provide whatever medical care is needed regardless of cost. All dogs are spayed/neutered, heartworm negative and current on vaccinations before being placed.
